SMASH Academy is a three-week, cost-free, residential on-campus summer experience supporting rising 11th and 12th graders in developing CS skills and credentials. SMASH is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit under the Kapor Center.About Create and Learn:As a CS Facilitator you will be working with the Create & Learn platform. Create & Learn is an award-winning computer science education program for K-12 students, based in Silicon Valley, offering 40+ courses (coding, game dev, AI, robotics, digital design, cloud computing).Position DescriptionReporting to Create & Learn, the Computer Science Workshop Facilitator will facilitate a group of ~25 scholars through project-based learning. The CS Workshop is scholar-centered, using Scratch or Python. Facilitators support scholars in understanding CS as a work-readiness skill and apply inquiry-based teaching.The SMASH Computer Science Workshop is held from July 13th to July 25th, 2026, with training prior to launch. Facilitators must be available all days (except weekends), half- or full-day. Strong preference for in-person teaching in Atlanta, GA; Ann Arbor, MI; Berkeley, CA; or Boston, MA.Outside of workshop dates, accepted candidates are encouraged to teach Create & Learn classes virtually in the spring.All staff and scholars must comply with SMASH COVID-19 policies and any site-specific requirements. If a quarantine mandate is enforced, programming will be held virtually.You must be available for all training and program dates.Onboarding & Teacher Training: Provided by Create + Learn (Ongoing)SMASH Staff Training: 7.10.2026 (Site-specific, In-Person strongly preferred)SMASH Academy: 7.13.2026 - 7.25.2026 (in-person, strongly preferred)Key responsibilities include:- Attend training- Adhere to curriculum provided by Create & Learn- Facilitate 3hr CS workshop sessions, 5 days/week- Alternate between whole group, small group, and individual facilitation- Facilitate learning through inquiry; prep for sessions; take attendance; ensure technical logistics- Guide conversation; manage time and space to meet outcomes- Continuously assess learning; provide feedback; log achievement data weekly; ensure completion of assignmentsRequired Attributes:- Strong domain knowledge and passion for CS (Python, AI, or UI/UX)- Collaboration, relationship building, problem-solving, resilience, life-long learnerWhat you bring:- Experience teaching CS- Proficiency in Python and/or AI, or digital design (UX/UI) with at least one semester of college-level coursework or equivalent experience- Commitment to SMASH’s mission; experience facilitating workshops with 40-45 participants preferred; effective class management; desire to teach with technology; results-driven- Experience with low-income, first-generation college youth of color a plus; afterschool/camp/classroom leadership preferred; Spanish fluency and virtual learning experience a plusPlease send a resume and cover letter to hiring@createandlearn.us.
