Highlights: We are seeking candidates with a strong background in Python, Artificial Intelligence, or digital UI/UX design and are passionate about teaching. The year can be part time year around (or just for summer July 13 - July 24, 2026). In person strongly preferred during SMASH Academy Workshop from July 13 - July 24, 2026. Location options are: Morehouse College (Atlanta), Spelman College (Atlanta), University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and Northeastern University (Boston). Hired candidates are also qualified to teach with Create & Learn online throughout the year with flexible hours starting from spring 2026. Position Description: Reporting to Create & Learn, the Computer Science Workshop Facilitator will play an integral role in delivering and sustaining the transformative learning experience that SMASH Scholars need to pursue, persist, and succeed in CS. Each facilitator will guide a group of around 25 scholars through project-based learning in Scratch or Python, supporting inquiry-based learning and modeling flexibility and a solution-oriented mindset. Dates: The SMASH Computer Science Workshop is held from July 13th to July 25th, 2026, with training prior to launch. Availability required on all days (except weekends), half day or whole day. Strong preference for in-person teaching in Atlanta, GA; Ann Arbor, MI; Berkeley, CA; or Boston, MA. Training: Onboarding & Teacher Training provided by Create & Learn (ongoing). SMASH Staff Training: 7.10.2026 (site-specific, in-person strongly preferred). SMASH Academy: 7.13.2026 - 7.24.2026 (in-person, strongly preferred). Key responsibilities: Attend training; adhere to curriculum; facilitate 3-hr sessions 5 days/week; alternate between whole-group, small-group, and individual facilitation; facilitate learning through inquiry; prep for sessions; take attendance and communicate absences; manage time and technical logistics; guide discussions; ensure outcomes and pacing; assess learning and provide feedback; log student achievement data weekly; ensure completion of assignments. Required attributes: Strong domain knowledge in Python, AI, or UI/UX; excellent communication, time management, and professionalism; relationship-building; problem-solving; resilience; and a growth mindset; willingness to model learning and accept feedback. What you bring: Experience teaching CS; proficiency in Python and/or AI, or digital design (UX/UI) with at least one semester of college-level coursework or equivalent experience; commitment to SMASH’s mission; workshop facilitation experience (40–45 participants preferred); belief in all scholars’ potential; ability to adopt new technologies; results-driven; effective class management; experience with diverse youth a plus; afterschool/camp/classroom experience preferred; Spanish fluency a plus; virtual learning experience a plus.
