Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for experienced petroleum and reservoir engineering professionals to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job — you'll draw on your hands-on expertise in reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserves reporting to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand real-world subsurface and reservoir engineering workflows.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current work.
What You'll Do
- Use your domain expertise to create expert-level training questions and scenarios based on real reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and SEC reserves reporting workflows
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance to real-world petroleum engineering practices
- Provide structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
- Complete tasks at your own pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience in petroleum or reservoir engineering, in a role such as Petroleum Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, Reservoir Simulation Engineer, Senior Reservoir Engineer, or Production Engineer
- Hands-on experience with reservoir simulation and production forecasting, reservoir simulation study reporting, or SEC oil and gas reserves reporting
- Familiarity with tools such as Petrel, CMG, MBAL, ARIES, Eclipse, or similar reservoir simulation and reserves software
- Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
Application Process
